SVP Vancouver Granting Streams
Fuelling Impact at Every Stage
Over the years, SVP’s funding model has evolved to support nonprofits at multiple stages of their life cycle, from early pilots to scaling proven models. Whether a nonprofit organization is stabilizing operations, scaling a proven model, or testing out a new idea, there’s a stream of funding that can help move their mission forward, strengthen organization leadership, provide critical support and drive lasting impact for youth and children across B.C.
Series A: Stabilize & Grow
Designed for nonprofits ready to build strong operational foundations, Series A funding supports organizations to stabilize and transform their systems, teams, and structures. This multi-year commitment allows leaders to focus on what matters most—deepening impact for children and youth—without the constant pressure of short-term funding cycles. We see this in action through partners like New West Family Place and other Early Years organizations, who are using Series A funding to collaborate more deeply—strengthening systems and improving outcomes for young children across their communities, as shared in Stronger Together: How Early Years leaders are innovating together
Series B: Scale What Works
Series B funding provides flexible, high-impact support to SVP’s Alumni organizations that are ready to scale what works, innovate with purpose, or lead transformative collaborations. Funding levels and timelines are customized to fit the opportunity—whether that’s expanding reach, deepening services, or investing in innovation. For example, LDS – Learn. Develop. Succeed. is leveraging Series B support to scale smarter through their use of AI to transform how children access learning support, as highlighted in Scaling Smarter: How LDS is using AI to transform learning for kids.
Micro Grants: Seed New Ideas
Big impact often starts small. Micro Grants are smaller, one-time grants designed to help organizations test or launch new initiatives—quickly and with minimal barriers. Perfect for pilots, innovation projects, or exploring something new that contributes to lasting change in communities across B.C. One powerful example is the Transform the Family Justice System Collaborative, which used a Micro Grant to test an idea that ultimately unlocked over $1 million in funding—demonstrating how small, flexible investments can catalyze systemic change, as told in Turning a Microgrant into a Million.
Targeted Capacity Building Flex Funding
Available to existing Investees and Alumni, this smaller one-time fund helps fill specific capacity gaps—whether that’s upgrading tech, hosting a staff retreat, or bringing in expert support. It’s all about making sure organizations have what they need to stay strong behind the scenes.
Program Grants: Coaching & Training
Strong leadership starts with the right support. Program Grants help nonprofit leaders build skills and confidence in areas that matter most—from fundraising and strategy to HR and social impact. These small but mighty grants help organizations access coaching or training to build stronger capacity over time.
Why We Fund This Way
Funding from other sources can often come with tight restrictions that make it hard for nonprofits to care for their people or invest in long-term capacity. At SVP, we believe that catalytic, flexible support fills a critical gap in the sector and gives organizations the breathing room, trust, and stability they need to grow. These grant streams reflect our belief that unearmarked, operational support not only strengthens nonprofit leadership—it creates the conditions for children and youth across B.C. to thrive.
We’ve seen for over 25 years that when nonprofits are stronger behind the scenes, their positive impact on vulnerable children and youth at the heart of their work is stronger too. Interested in learning more? Reach out to the SVP team or explore the Community Resources on our website.
