Spreading The Word About LDS’s Early Risers

LDS are heading out into the community and spreading the word about their Early RISErs program for preschoolers aged 3 to 5 years, which is in part supported by SVP’s Early Years Innovation Fund. It offers an incredible and unique opportunity for children to get a strong start in Kindergarten and beyond.

For 10 consecutive weeks, children enrolled in Early RISErs at their LDS East Vancouver Learning Centre are engaged in expert-led, enriched play-based learning that will set them up for success starting Kindergarten and beyond, and it is carefully scaffolded to each child’s needs. The program brings together experts and focuses on key areas of learning and development, including early literacy, early numeracy, speech-language acquisition, social and emotional learning, and physical literacy, to give families a snapshot of their child’s learning and development to date.

The Early RISErs program operates on a sliding fee scale, ensuring access for all preschoolers and their families, including those facing financial barriers. Thanks to the ongoing support of funders such as SVP’s Early Innovation Fund and a recent $25,000 program-specific grant from the Windsor Plywood Foundation held at Vancouver Foundation, they can offer new Early RISErs bursary spots to families in need.

LDS is spreading the word about their Early RISErs program through several initiatives, including direct engagement with childcare providers, community centre and public library teams, and families across the Lower Mainland. You might also spot one of their informational posters in your neighbourhood.
