Red Fox Healthy Living Society
Red Fox Healthy Living Society (Red Fox) is a registered charity that uses physical activity to empower Aboriginal and inner-city youth and children to overcome barriers and build successful lives. Red Fox runs child and family recreation programs, and trains, mentors and challenges youth to gain work experience within them. Their programs build health, confidence and skills that serve children and youth in education, in employment, and in life. Red Fox programs serve around 15,000 children, youth and families every year, at schools, community and friendship centres, and special events across Metro Vancouver.
With SVP’s support, Red Fox is starting to scale this successful model to reach more children and youth across Metro Vancouver and beyond. In Year 1, Red Fox created two new roles, allowing the Executive Director to strengthen and build new partnerships and funding relationships. With SVP Partner expertise, Red Fox also developed a strategic plan and streamlined financial systems. Current priorities are to diversify and increase fundraising streams, strengthen the Board of Directors, improve the efficiency of internal systems, and build staff capacity.
SVP grant commitment: $50,000 in 2015 which included generous co-funding from the BPS Wealth Management Group at CIBC Wood Gundy (represented by SVP Partners Geoff Bertram, Tom Porteous and Eric Southam) in the amount of $22,500. Subsequent funding of $35,000 was approved in 2016, and $30,000 in 2017.
