Instilling Hope and Building Bright Futures in the DTES

In the Downtown Eastside (DTES), one of Canada’s most complex inner-city neighbourhoods, Promise Vancouver focuses on instilling hope in under-resourced children and youth with year-round programs that empower them to learn, play, and grow.

Partnering for Long-Term Impact

Promise Vancouver joined the SVP community in October 2024 receiving a multi-year Series A Grant. We’re backing their scalable model to reach even more young people in the DTES. Our support builds on Promise Vancouver’s notable impact with more than 20,000 student‑hours of programming, reaching 151 elementary and 41 high‑school students over the past three years. 

Together, with the engagement of our SVP Community, we are helping Promise Vancouver to:

• Secure a more permanent “home base” in the DTES near local schools for after‑school, preteen, and youth programs
• Build on new HR practises and staff development, including support for Young Leaders who mentors and leads elementary (gr. 1-7) students summer camp
• Strengthen strategic planning, real estate planning, board development, and fund development
  

This work will help ensure Promise Vancouver has the stability and infrastructure to deepen its impact and expand its reach.
