New Westminster Family Place
New Westminster Family Place (NWFP) offers drop-in programs, workshops, and parenting groups for families to find support, strengthen their relationships with their children and family members, enhance how they feel about their parenting, and build community connection and belonging.
NWFP received a micro-grant to further articulate their innovative idea of a collaborative, coordinated ACES (Adverse Childhood Experience) community response to support children in their programming, with a focus on “COVID babies.” They received $5,000 and full access to non-financial capacity-building support.
Dana Osiowy, Executive Director, says: “The process of applying for the Early Years Fund was so liberating. I loved that an idea that we have had percolating for the past year, a COVID response, could have room to breathe and I could imagine what was possible. The process allowed and supported a nascent idea to get traction, and in 2023, everything started falling into place. Our organization and our purpose need that space to grow and breathe and try new things and SVP has made that possible—the resources are more than just dollars; it is faith in what we are doing and hope for the future for children and families.”
