KidSafe

KidSafe provides nurturing safe havens for vulnerable inner-city children when schools are traditionally closed.  KidSafe provides supportive relationships with adults, promotes a sense of belonging and friendship with peers, and good health habits (for example, regular breakfast, meals with family members, good sleeping habits).  They also provide meaningful activities (for example, music, arts, sports, youth groups) and a positive, supportive environment.

SVP Vancouver originally worked with KidSafe (2004-2006) to help diversify their board, enhance their fund development, and raise their profile in the community. As a second-time SVP Investee, KidSafe launched the KidLink program in September 2013 to help bridge the gap for KidSafe kids transitioning to secondary school. Thirty youth participated in its first year, receiving access to social programs and activities through community partnerships, monthly transit passes, and one on one support from the Program Coordinator.
